Limited Sampling
Tis test Helps determine of a problem exists in a client defined area.
This is often referred to as an "Indoor/Outdoor Comparison".
A limited sampling is the fastest least expensive screening method for mold.
Mold is everywhere outside your home. Without mold a tree that fell hundreds
of years ago and hundreds of year's worth of dead vegetation would be piled up
upon the ground. Because there are mold spores everywhere they will also be
inside your home.
However, if the number of mold spores found inside your home is significantly
higher that the number of spores found outside your home, it means that mold is
growing inside the home….Using a vacuum pump, 25 liters of air are drawn through
a spore trap (one in the testing area and one outside of the home). The spore
trap is sent to a certified laboratory for analysis. This is the preferred
test when there are no visible signs of mold.
Limited Sampling Inspection
- Client defined area of inspection (one room - if multiple rooms are to be tested, a sample must be collected in each room)
- Visual inspection of defined area
- Collection of one or more samples in defined area (usually predicated by visible mold, odors, and or evidence of water penetration) and one exterior sample for comparison
- Analysis of samples
- Laboratory Report detailing the presence and type(s) of mold, if any, found in the samples
- Laboratory Summary Report identifying if any "unusual" mold conditions exist in the sampled locations only, at the time they were collected
Does not provide:
- A guarantee that mold does or doesn't exist in the subject property
- Remediation specifications of identified mold affected areas. The advice of an Indoor Air Quality Specialist (IAQ) or other appropriate professional should be sought for further directions on how to address any mold problems discovered
